What Causes Dog Diarrhea?
Improper diet is the main cause of diarrhea in dogs in most cases. Owners should understand that feeding their dogs with human foods could disrupt the digestive system of the dog, thus causing dog with diarrhea.
To make sure that your dogâs natural digestive procedure is not disrupted, choosing commercial dog food is always a good choice, however even when selecting any canned dog food, you should consider the dietary needs of your dog. Every breed has there own requirement and also the age and specific lifestyle being followed should also be considered.
If you are doubtful on the contents used in canned foods, you can always prepare dog food at home. You should always use bland meat to prepare your dog food, poultry and fish can also be used as your dog requires lots of proteins. Never season your dogâs food with any spices but only use salt, oil and vegetables occasionally.
Donât change your dog food too often, as change in the protein contents in foods may also lead to diarrhea in dogs. If you have problems in understanding the requirements of your dog which is very important, it is best you visit a vet and ask for his advice. Different dogs have different requirements; some are in need of high protein, whereas some may require larger amounts of calcium.
Inattention and carelessness may also causes dog diarrhea. Diarrhea is caused due to bacteria, viruses and parasites that enter the dogâs body through there mouth. Dogs that are abandoned by owners usually stray in trash and are likely to develop diarrhea due to the unhealthy surroundings.
You should constantly supervise your dogâs activities and as an in charge of your pet you should not allow your dog to go beyond your backyard. Any trash or leftovers should not be left unattended as your dog may try to explore it out and in turn end up with bacteria or parasites that may be the causes of dog diarrhea. Also chemicals and stuff that may prove harmful for the dog should be kept at a very safe distance so that it is no longer reachable for your dog.
Also no food or water should be left unattended for a long time, as stale food may also develop bacteria and when your dog decides to eat it, he might develop symptoms of diarrhea. Any food left behind by your dog after its feed should be discarded immediately as many foods tend to develop molds and fungi or be infected with unhealthy bacteria in a very short period.
